If you purchase whole coffee beans in bulk from a roaster, you will not only reduce your plastic use, but you will also have fresher coffee.
The best way to store whole coffee beans is in a ceramic container with a rubber airtight seal.
Don’t take the word bulk too literally, you should ideally only buy enough coffee to last two weeks.

My friends and I are coffee lovers. However, we’re looking for a high-quality, stainless steel travel coffee mug (preferably one that insulates). We’ve found them at greenfeet.com and reusablebags.com. However, they have plastic lids. We want to avoid all plastic. Can you help direct us?

I remember Lee Valley having insulated steel mugs for the workshop without lids. I think Mountain Equipment Co-op might be worth a look. I don’t travel with coffee these days, so I haven’t been looking.
