I have lived on a Mediterranean Island so long that I can spell Mediterranean right the first time. You know I see more than my share of these cheap plastic toys. I honestly think that taking a field guide to marine life to the beach and spending some time searching for cool stuff with your kids would provide better entertainment. We found a fossilized shark’s tooth a few years ago.

It’s amazing how completely plastic pervades our life. Earlier this year I was trying to observe a day without plastic, and I couldn’t figure out how to do it. I could figure out how to avoid using more plastic for a day, but my computer has a plastic case, some of my clothes have plastic, my phone has a lot of plastic…I think the best we can hope for in the near future is that a lot of this plastic stuff now made from petroleum will be made from plants that were more recently alive.

I’m looking for a tote for all my kids pool/beach toys. I want the kind that looks like a basket, but is plastic and flexible and has handles.
